Dutch Association of Botanical Gardens
The Dutch Association of Botanical Gardens (NVBT) is an umbrella organization and has 27 gardens spread throughout the Netherlands. Together we see it as our mission to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity of plants in the context of a sustainable world.
In order to realize this mission, the members commit themselves to NVBT criteria on the management of the plant collections and the way in which they are used for scientific research, nature conservation, exhibition and / or education. That is why there are signs in the gardens with the Latin and Dutch names. The gardens know exactly what is in the collection, and are actually green museums with a green and growing collection. The gardens exchange seeds with each other so that a plant species does not have to be limited to a botanical garden and the chance of survival of species is increased.
Botanic Gardens
are institutions where a documented, living plant collection is managed for scientific research, nature conservation, exhibition and education.
