An Unbroken Line of Seed Collecting

The Tailor-Made programme presents a new exhibition at the TU Delft Hortus Botanicus: An Unbroken Line of Seed Collecting

For the last four years, the Tailor-Made program has been busy bringing to light the highly diverse collections of the TU Delft. To celebrate the end of the programme the team has organised “The Science of Collecting”, a campus-wide exhibition with exhibits in every faculty. They present what they found in the nooks and crannies on campus and show how these special objects can benefit the people of the TU Delft. 

One of these locations is the Hortus Botanicus, part of the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. Here you can find the exhibition “An Unbroken Line of Seed Collecting”, telling the story of how the Hortus has been actively involved in a global network of seed exchanges for over a century. The Hortus' historic seed collection comprises over 12000 vials with seeds, the earliest of which date back to 1877! Part of this collection is on display for the first time since it was registered and partly repackaged in collaboration with the Tailor-Made programme.
